Herald Coaster, February 11, 1994: Funeral services for LaVerne Meyen, 53, of Needville, are scheduled 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. A rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday at the church. The Rev. James Ramsey will officiate, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Mrs. Meyen died Wednesday at Memorial City Hospital in Houston. She was born Feb. 26, 1940, in Fairchilds. She was a school teacher and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Otto Lee Meyen of Needville; sons, David Meyen and his wife, Patti, and Chris Meyen, all of Needville; a granddaughter, Megan Meyen of Needville; her mother, Mary Zwahr of Richmond; a sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Conroy Bezecny of Needville; a brother, Lawrence Zwahr and his wife, Alline, of Needville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Zwahr, and by her two brothers, Calvin and Alphone "Bibs" Zwahr. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Friends may call from 3-5:30 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Needville. Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors in Needville.
