Daughter of Jan (John Savidge) & Hedvigis (Rzepa) Szawica. Married to: 1. Michael Nikolajczek on 10-4-1880 at St. Bonaventure Cathoic Church at Columbus, NE. 2. Frederich Haun on 1-21-1901 at Ewing, NE. -------------- On 1900 Census, Sophia Nekolizak and children, son Henry b 1883, daughter, Frances b 1885 and son John, b 1889 are living on a farm in the area of Ewing, Holt, County, Nebraska. =============== On 1920 Census, Sophia is the wife of Fred Haun and they are living in Columbus. Also, on the census is Fred and Sophia's son, Michael Haun, age 18. A daughter "Laura" is also shown. Laura aka Lorene/Loretta was not born of the marriage but was "taken in" according to a newspaper article published circa 1926. "Laura" aka Lorene/Loretta was separated from her birth mother and subsequently found again by her birth mother, now known as Mrs. Stupkowski, who came to Columbus and took her back to Logansport, Indiana. ======== The family story is that Sophia, a widow, lived with her children for 6 years near Ewing, Nebr. "Some friends knew Grandpa Haun and knew he needed a housekeeper for his 5 children". That appears to be how it happened that she married in Ewing Jan. 19, 1901 to Fred Haun. Alternate date given by a Spalding Centennial Book was they married January 23, 1899. According to the 1900 census, this is not correct.
