Columbus Journal, October 28, 1896 Died -- Mikolaczek -- Friday, October 23rd, after a few hours illness of inflammation of the bowels, Michael Mikolaczyk, aged about 40 years. The funeral took place on Sunday. He leaves a wife and five children. Children born to Michael and Sophia were Anna, Henry, Mary, Frances, John Anthony b 1889 and two who died as infants, Kathryn, b 1894 and Michael, b 1896 ======= Spelling of surname varies in records: Nikolazczek, Nekoliczak, Mikolajczak, Mikolazczyk =============== Son of Anthony Mikolajczyk and Katherine (Josek? Losek?) =========== On 1880 census in Columbus, Nebraska, Mike was age 24 and working in a brewery. ================ Married Sophia Szawica on Oct 4, 1880, at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus, Nebraska. His age given as 25; hers as 18.
