Bio

Son of Francis McCown and Nancy Swinney. His wife, Nancy Vaughn, daughter of John Vaughn and Elizabeth Williamson, should be buried nearby without a marker. They were the parents of 7 children: George W., Simeon, Mary Elizabeth, Francis Asbury, Manerva Jane, Eliza Rebecca, and John W. McCown. The four sons served the Confederacy, and the youngest, John, died at Decatur, Alabama.
