The dates are approximate and birth place probable. We know she died after she wrote a tender and loving will, 28 September 1824, in Monroe Co., Mississippi. This are is now Lowndes Co. Nancy was the daughter of Edward Swinney. He signed for her to marry in 1798. She married Francis McCown, 15 February 1798, Lincoln Co., Kentucky. They were the parents of ten children: John (married Nancy Vaughn) James S. (married Elizabeth Polk) William (married Mary Vaughn) Francis, Jr. Mahala (married and divorced Jackson Pate) Thersy (married William Hickman) Eliza Jane (married William Hull and John W. Bigby) Louisa (married James M. Hull) Jackson Green (married Anna Box) Manerva McCown (married John C. Morrow).
