JAMES ZELENY DEATH She resided On a Farm Near Bruno For Many Years Bruno, Sept. 19 – Mrs. James Zeleny, Sr., aged 75 yeares died at her home in Swanton at 12 o'clock Thursday, Sept.15, after an illness of eight weeks. The remains were brought to Bruno for burial, escorted by her family, relatives and friends from Seward, Swanton and Wilber. Funeral services were held in St. Anthony's church in Bruno at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. F. J. Kopecky conducting the services and burial rites. Interment was in St. Anthony's cemetery. The pallbearers were four sons, James, Gilbert, Jacob and Louis Zeleny, and two sons-in-law, Joseph Slonecker and Floyd Dowding. Mrs. Zeleny was born Anna Pohl in Prispa, Moravia, Czechoslovakia, July 25, 1863, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jakub Pohl. With her parents, she came to the United States and Butler County, Nebraska, in 1879. Her marriage to James Zeleny took place in David City February 14, 1888. To them were born six sons and five daughters, one daughter, Annie, and son, Bohumil, preceding the mother in death. The survivors are her aged husband of Swanton and sons, James of Wilbur, Jacob and Louis of Seward, and daughters, Mrs. Agnes Dowding and Mrs. Martha Slonecker of Seward, Mrs. Christy Ward of Edgemont, S. Dak., and Mrs. Emma Nelson of Swanton. Other survivors are one brother, James Pohl, of Bruno, and three sisters, Mrs. Frances Stava of Bruno, Mrs. Herman Klumpe of Hayes Center and Mrs. Agnes Chloupek. The Zeleny family lived near Bruno until 1906 when they moved to Seward County were they farmed until 1920, then moving to near Swanton, in Saline county. Mr. and Mrs. Zeleny had retired from farm life and made their home in Swanton. Mrs. Zeleny was a loving wife and mother, a good friend and neighbor and a cheerful, friendly woman, who never spared herself in her service to others. The sympathy of this community is extended to the bereaved. Among those from a distance attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Zeleny, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Zeleny, Mrs. Julia Everett, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Teckmeyer, Mr. and Mrs. William Krenk, Mrs. Jay Enright and Arthur Leach, all of Omaha; Mrs. Frank Jungman, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jungman, Jr., and Mrs. Emma Matousek of Atkinson, Mrs. Herman Klumpe and Mrs. Alvin Nitch of Hayes Center, Mrs. Dickie Lee of Maywood, Mr. and Mrs. John Matousek of Rising City and Mr. and Mrs. James Bohuslavsky and daughter of David City. A requiem mass for the repose of the soul of the departed was celebrated in St. Anthony's church by Rev. Father Kopecky at 6:30 o'clock Monday morning. ____ We extend our heartfelt thanks to relatives and friends for their sympathy and kindness, and for the floral offerings, in our bereavement and loss of our dear wife and mother.
