BOARD GIVES MAN HEARING JONN POHL FOUND TO BE FIT, SUBJECT FOR THE INSANE HOSPITAL. THE AFFLICTED MAN SUFFERS UNDER MANY STRANGE DELUSIONS. From Monday 's Daily, John Pohl, a resident of the Brady vicinity, was considered a fit subject for treatment at the hospital for the insane this morning by the Insanity board. Pohl was arrested at his home last week because of his queer actions and was held at the county jail until his hearing this morning. The man's delusions had taken most unusual for he believes that there are devils around him and in trying to rid himself of them becomes dangerous to those near him. In one Instance he was known to have put rat poison over his farm in order to Ill the unwelcome demons. He also told of wishing to kill his enemies and seems to have special immunity toward school teachers. He is a Bohemian and feared to kill his enemies without his naturalization papers, he stated, for fear that he would be hanged. He stated to one of the neighbors that he hoped to get these papers soon and then be free to right his fancied wrongs. The board considered these things and upon the advice of the neighbors and the members of the afflicted man's family, decided to send him to some place for treatment. He will be taken to the hospital for the insane at Hastings. The patient has been in an asylum before according to the testimony this morning. He has been known to be out of his mind for years but not until lately has he been considered dangerous to the community. From the north Platte telegraph, North, Platte, Nebraska, Thursday, May 22, 1913 (NOTE: Hastings Regional Center or Ingleside Cemetery Burials of insane asylum patients. First burial in 1888. No markers. Regional Center burials now available at the Adams County Historical Society). Case #3399 Birth information from the 1930 U.S. Census
