Anna Theresa (Gerik) Yates, 86 of Bellmead, died Sunday, December 7, 1997 at her residence. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. December 8 at Bellmead Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Rabbitte as celebrant. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. December 9 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead with the Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Mrs. Yates was born June 18, 1911 in Tokio, the daughter of Vince and Anna Gerik of Tokio. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead, was retired from being coordinator of the Senior Citizens Program, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Cecil Yates, who died in action during World War II in 1944, and four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Lednicky of Woodway; a sister, Margaret Scott; a brother, Adolf Gerik of West; and three grandchildren, Regina, Clay and Jeff Lednicky. Pallbearers were Bill Frazier, Robert Frazier, David Scott, Fred Gerik and Bennie Poehls. Honorary pallbearers were her other nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society or Providence Health Center. Bellmead Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
