Bio

Elgin William Tielke, 83 of West Columbia, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He was born June 2, 1930 in Needville, Texas to Henry and Olivia (Miller) Tielke. He was an independent painter and retired from L.C.I.S.D. in the maintenance department, an avid fisherman, hunter, and woodworker; enjoyed dancing on Friday evenings at the American Legion Hall. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, March 24, 2014, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, with Pastor Ryan Lintelman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosenberg. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Kubes, Jeff Kubes Justin Tielke, Nicholas Beran, Charlie McClendon, Joey Murphy, Larry Loesch, and Kevin Loesch. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristy Kubes, Jennifer McClendon, Nicole Murphy, and Amanda Miller. Elgin is survived by his wife, Doris Tielke of West Columbia; sons, Ronald Tielke of New Ulm, Randy Tielke of Rosenberg, and Kurtis Tielke and wife, Kim, of East Bernard; daughters, Lynette Atkins and husband, Tom, of Rosenberg, Nancy Beran and husband, Adolph, of Rosenberg; special step-son, Glen Thornton and Cindy of West Columbia; grandchildren, Kristy Kubes, Jeff Kubes, Nathan Kubes, Jennifer McClendon and husband, Charlie, Nicholas Beran and fiancé Kayla Walker, Amanda Miller and husband, Mike, Nicole Murphy and husband, Joey, along with Justin Tielke; 3 great-grandchildren, Hailey Pryor, Kaitlyn Miller, and Aidan Miller along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Winnie Tielke; sister, Joyce Loesch; and son-in-law, Charlie Kubes. Memorials may be made to the Columbia Christian Senior Citizens Center, 629 E. Bernard, West Columbia, Texas 77486.
