William Harvey Blair was born in Brighton Township, near Sacramento, California on 9 June 1865. He was one of eleven children born to Darwin Collins Blair and Ann Elizabeth Wilson Blair. On 1 October 1894 he and Josephine Henriette "Josie" McTigue were married in Gold Hill, Nevada. William was a miner all of his life. The family was living in Courtland, Cochise County, Arizona when Josie died on May 10, 1910, from child birth at the age of 35, leaving William a widower with five young children. William died five years later in Courtland on 11 August 1915 from pneumonia at the age of fifty. Both Josie and William were buried in Courtland. Located at the foot of the Dragoon Mountains, about fifteen miles northeast of Tombstone, Courtland was founded in 1909 due to a copper boom. The boom did not last long though. Within ten years the profits from the mines began to shrink and in 1921 a "mass exodus" occurred. Today, it is a Ghost town. The grave markers for William and Josie Blair can not be located.
