Rufus Collins Blair, 89-year-old Weott resident, died at his home there Tuesday afternoon. He was born February 6, 1867, in Broderick and moved to Laytonville in 1869 where his family was among the early settlers. Blair lived in Mendocino County until coming to Weott in 1932. In his early years he was engaged in the lumber industry and in ranching. Later he worked for the state Division of Highways until his retirement at the age of 70 years. He is survived by two sons, Glenn Blair of Weott and Gene Blair of Laytonville; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Albertoni of Santa Rosa and Mrs. Ora Butts of Harrah, Wash.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary with the Rev. Harold V. Reeves, pastor of the Fortuna Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
