Bio

Jewell Richardson was born at Redland, Ok. on April 18, 1915 to Rex Mathews and Nancy Jones Mathews, one of 15 children. She was welcomed into the comforting arms of her Savior at her home in Redland on June 27, 2009 at the age of 94 years, 2 months, and 9 days. Her childhood years were spent in McCurtain County and after marriage, she and her husband spent several years living and working in several different locations depending where his job took them. They returned to McCurtain County in 1970. Jewell worked as a Beautician in her early years. She attended the Redland Methodist Church. She enjoyed going to the Redland Quilting Club until her health failed. She made many beautiful quilts and gave most of them to her family. She was a wonderful cook and her heart was always opened to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alva in 1987; her daughter, Nancy Horn in 2006; 8 Sisters and 2 Brothers and 1 grandson, Tony Horn. She leaves to cherish her memory; 3 Sons; Bill Richardson and wife, Shirley of Wake Village, Texas; James Richardson and wife, Tina of Valparaiso, Indiana; and Terry Richardson and wife, Kristen of Valparaiso, Indiana; 1 daughter, Nell Lockwood of Redland, OK; 1 Brother; Sam Mathews of Redland, Ok. and 3 Sisters; Bessie Dean Potts of Haworth, Ok, Juadene Rhoden of Longview, Texas and Marthel Smith of Valencia, Calif. 14 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
