Bio

HALLSVILLE — Mrs. Rhoden died Monday, June 9, 2014. She was born December 14, 1931, in Redland, Oklahoma, to Rex and Nancy Mathews. Shortly after graduating from Haworth High School in 1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Rhoden. Raising four small children did not stop her from graduating as a Licensed Vocational Nursing in 1959 in Corpus Christi. After moving to Longview in 1961, she worked at Good Shepherd Hospital and later worked for pediatrician Dr. Robert Comer for 19 years. Her family and friends were the beneficiaries of her many talents which included, quilting, crochet, sewing, cooking, cake decorating and at times construction. She thought she could do anything and almost did. At age 78 she built the porch on the front of her house. She will be remembered as a Godly woman of faith who showed her children the way to Christ. Jaudene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill; three sons, Neal Rhoden and wife, Melissa, of Woodway, Texas, Matt Rhoden of Ore City and Philip Rhoden of Deer Park, Washington; a daughter, Kendall Harper and husband, Dale; two sisters, Bessie Dean Potts of Haworth, Oklahoma, and Marthel Smith of Valencia, California; and a brother, Sam Mathews of Crossett, Arkansas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ross Edmonds, Aubrey, Madison, Olivia, Reece and Samuel Rhoden and Brady and Nathan Harper; and four great-grandchildren, Jude, Quinn, Amelia and Elinor. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine sisters; two brothers; and her beloved grandson, West Rhoden.
