Bio

Joel was the son of Nathan & Rachel Anne Brown Mauldin. On 26 February 1847, he married Catherine Jane Stephenson. They were the parents of 7 children-Elmira Mae (Voyles), Thomas Benjamin, Cynthia Anne (Trullinger), John Ely, May Jane (Bressie), Benjamin, and Newton Marion. After Catherine's death, he married her sister Cynthia Stephenson, widow of Joseph Walton, on 23 August 1861. They were the parents of Albert Edward and Nathan Brown.
