Catherine was the daughter of Benjamin & Mary Grimes Stephenson. On 26 February 1847, she married Joel Maudlin. They were the parents of 7 children-Elmira Mae (Voyles), Thomas Benjamin, Cynthia Anne (Trullinger), John Eli, Mary Jane (Bressie), Benjamin, and Newton Marion.
