Herald Coaster, February 19, 1990: Funeral services for Annie Zich, 101, of Needville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church in Needville. Rev. Bluford Weikel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Methodist Cemetery in Needville. Mrs. Zich died Saturday, Feb. 17, at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond. She was born near Brenham on Nov. 18, 1888. She moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Miller Sr., to Fort Bend County in 1908. In 1909, she married Charles T. Zich and they made Needville their home. The City Council of Needville honored Mrs. Zich on her 100th birthday by declaring Nov. 18, 1989 as "Annie Zich Day." She was a lifetime member of the First Methodist Church of Needville, as well as a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on April 24, 1949, and two sons and one daughter. She is survived by sons, John H. Zich and wife, Jane, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Wallace W. Zich and wife, Kathy, of Rodheim Bieber, West Germany; daughters, Leona J. Knight and husband, Gilbert, of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. Annabelle Miller of Needville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Miller of Needville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the Garmany and Carden Chapel in Needville which is in charge of arrangements.
