Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Jane Copeland, 76, pioneer resident of Wheeler County, were held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Shamrock. Mrs. Copeland died about 1 o'clock Sunday morning in the Smith Rest Home in Wellington. She had been ill health for the past 10 months and had been in the rest home for four months. Rev. J.E. Byers pastor of the First Baptist Church of Shamrock, officiated at the last rites, assisted by Rev. Mario Fry, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church, and Rev. J.D. Leavelle, pastor of the Lela Baptist Church. Pallbearers were: Oscar Sloss, W.H. Locke Jr, Carl Vernon, Melvin Hill, Woodrow Henry and Roy Conner. Clay Funeral Home was in charge of interment in Shamrock Cemetery. Mrs. Copeland was born February 23, 1883, in Alabama. She had made her home in the Shamrock area since 1908, most of that time in the Bethel Community. She was married to W.G. Copeland, June 13, 1913, in Erick, Okla. Her husband passed away October 13, 1941. Two sons and one daughter also preceded her in death. Mrs. Copeland united with the Baptist Church in childhood. Her membership was in the First Baptist Church of Shamrock at the time of her death. Surviving are: six daughters, Mrs. Ruth Davis, Terrell; Mrs. Ruby Agan, Donna; Mrs. Seidel Franklin, Shamrock; Mrs. Lucille O'Neal, Ponca City, Okla.; Mrs. Bernice Ray Isaacs, Los Angeles, Calif; and Mrs. Myrle Dorman, Phoenix, Ariz.; five sons, Robert Terry, Shamrock; Elzie Terry, Lela; L.B. Copeland, Bethel Community; Wilson Copeland, Amarillo; and Garland Copeland, Manteca, Calif; two step-daughters, Mrs. Addie Trimble, Shamrock; and Mrs. Lela Williams, Odessa; and four step-sons, Frank Copeland, California; Grover Copeland, Shamrock; Herbert Copeland, Texola, Okla.; and Elmer Copeland, California. Also surviving are: 55 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Mary O'Neal, Shamrock; Mrs. Dora Edwards, Tucson, Ariz.; and Mrs. Nora Franklin, Albuquerque, N.M.; and two brothers, Pearl Hicks, California; and Jim Hicks, Floydada.
