Bio
Funeral services for Mrs. C.T. O'Neal, 81, a pioneer resident of the Shamrock area, were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Eleventh Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Hoyt Ellis, pastor, officiating. Mrs. O'Neal died about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in Shamrock General Hospital where she had been a patient for several days. She had been in failing health for several years. Serving as pallbearers at the final rites were: L.C. Adams, Jr., Oscar Sloss, Loyd Braxton, G.B. Sloss, Dean Howard and Adde Turnbow. Named as honorary bearers were: Frank McDonald, Claude Groves, Walter Turnbow, George Howard, L.C. Adams, Sr., C.V. Wood and B.F. Holland. Interment was in Manse Lisle Cemetery of Shamrock with Clay Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The former Miss Mary Francis Hicks was born November 25, 1886, in Jackson County Ala., and moved to Tarrant Count in Texas, from her native state, in 1892. She was married to Culver Thomas O'Neal in Mangum, Okla. on February 7, 1907, and they moved to the Sharmock area in 1910. She had made her home in Shamrock since 1945. Mrs. O'Neal was a member of the Eleventh Street Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters. Mrs. Lelia McCafferty and Mrs. Wilma Wortham. Survivors are: three sons, Curtis of Woodsboro, Tommie of Perryton, and Earl L. of Pampa; one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Carmickle of Lubbock; 15 grandchildren, including Jimmy Wortham of Palm Springs, Calif, who was reared by the O'Neal's; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Jim Hicks of Floydada; and a sister, Mrs. Nora Franklin of La Crescinta, Calif Shamrock Texan April 11, 1968.
