Bio

Allen's birth year is questionable. The census records from 1880 through 1940 indicate he was born in either 1877 or 1878--probably 1878 if the January 3 birth date is correct. His WWI draft registration card, though, says January 3, 1875! Was there a typo? Did Allen want to appear older than he really was when registering for the draft? His obituary, however, says he was 68 when he died, which would match with the 1875 date. It's a mystery!
