Bio

Wilma M. Zhanel, 82, passed away in Ennis on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012, at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Chapel in Ennis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church with Father Fred Caldwell as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Wilma Marie was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Frank J. and Janie (Lanicek) Prachyl. On June 10, 1950, she married Leslie Zhanel at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. She volunteered at Helping Hands, worked for Story's Manufacturing for many years, and retired from EISD; she loved playing Chickenfoot, and she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wilma was a member of KJZT, Catholic Daughters, and Golden Crusaders. Wilma was preceded in death by her sons, Richard Wayne Zhanel and Dennis Zhanel; sisters: Helen Prachyl, Emily Valek, and Janie Patak; and brother, George Prachyl. She is survived by her husband, Leslie; sons, Steve Zhanel and his wife, Barbara, Mark Zhanel, and Gene Zhanel and his wife, Tammy, all of Ennis; daughter, Doris Luck and her husband, Eddie, of Ennis; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Lewis Prachyl and his wife, Sara, of Ennis; sisters, Adele Meyers, of Maryland, and Georgie Nekuza and her husband, Raymond, of Ennis; and many other relatives and friends.
