Bio
On July 18th, 2022, Adele Prachyl Meyer, age 97, passed away peacefully in her daughter's home surrounded by family. She was born on September 14th, 1924 to the late Frank and Janie (Nee Lanicek) Prachyl of Ennis Texas. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Ferd C. Meyer and beloved grandchild, Patrick. Adele is survived by her 5 children: James Meyer (Marcia), Jean Janssens (Thierry), Donald Meyer (Terese), Peggy Hart (Tom), and Karen Hanyok (Jim). She is also survived by her 12 cherished grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Adele was born and raised in Ennis, Texas. She came to Washington, DC during the war to work at the Navy Department where she met her husband. They married on November 12th, 1945, at Nativity Parish, Washington DC. Adele and Ferd were active members in St. Bernard's school and parish in Riverdale, MD. They moved to the Charlestown Retirement Community in 1999.After their move, they volunteered at St. Agnes hospital and Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 12 at 11:30 in Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, Maryland 21228.In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Stella Maris Hospice, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium, MD 21093.
