George Frank Prachyl January 1, 1923 June 16, 2011 George Frank Prachyl, age 88, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away in Ennis on Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was born in Ennis on January 1, 1923 to Frank and Janie Prachyl. After graduating from Ennis High, he attended Texas A&M University at Arlington. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country with two tours in the South Pacific Islands during WWII. He ended his service in 1946 attaining rank of Sergeant. After discharge, George married Mary Margaret Barta on May 1, 1946. George and Margaret owned and operated Prachyl's Grocery until 1959 when George began working for Standards Brands Inc in Dallas, Texas, retiring there in 1982. George was a faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church in Ennis, as well as member of the Golden Crusaders and the Golden Circle and will be especially remembered for his fellowship while serving as Manager of the Knights of Columbus Hall for 15 years, his love of cooking for family and friends, wine making, gardening, and playing dominoes. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret; daughters, Donna Daugherty and husband Jeff, Cindy Lunsford and husband Eddie; sons, Bernie and wife Susan, Alan and wife Debbie, and Eric Prachyl; many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. John Catholic Church with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. with a Rosary at 6 P.M. on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
