ELZNIC, JAMES—James Elznic, son of Frank and Marie Bartu Elznic, was born at Milligan, Neb., on April 25, 1907, and passed from this life at his home in Geneva on April 14, 1974, at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 14 days. On March 14, 1928, he was united in marriage with Miss Agnes Krol. To this union were born two sons, Ronald and Gary. For most of his life he worked in heavy construction. For the past 20 years he had worked for the Geneva township until his health failed. He is survived by his wife Agnes; his two sons, Donald and Gary; two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren; his brother Anton and sister-in-law Mary; six sisters Mrs. Joe (Mayme) Chudly, Mrs. Wendile (Emma ) Zenisek, Mrs. Charles (Agnes) Stofer, Mrs. Ben (Alice) Fussell, Mrs. Georgie Voyta, and Mrs. Mildred Nemiskel; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Susan Marie; one sister Anna Stofer; and brothers, Frank, William, Louis, and Joe; as well as a host of other relation and friends. Funeral services were conducted from Farmer-Harris funeral home, Geneva, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 1974, with Rev. John E. Stayton officiating. Musical selections were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Near to the Heart of God.” Soloist was Mrs. Alvin Rizer with Mrs. Willard Foster at the organ. Pallbearers were William Bauer, Roger Pittard, Fred Fisher, Fred Votipka, Jacob Klundt and John Votipka. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 18 April 1974 page 5.
