''''''''''''''''''''''''' The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), December 11, 1969, p. 5, col. 5 Mrs. Mary Samek Funeral Services Conducted Here Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Samek, 84, were conducted Thursday morning, Dec. 4, from St. Mary's Catholic Church here with Msgr. A. J. Lisko officiating. Mrs. Samek, a resident of St. Joseph's Villa, died Thursday, Dec. 2, at David City Hospital. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Maurice and Robert Havlovic, Virgil Vrbka, Marion Samek, Jerome Kovar and Jim Kadavy. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Bruno. Mary Kozisek, the daughter of George and Josephine Yindrick Kozisek, was born Oct. 8, 1885, at Bruno. She was married on Oct. 4, 1905, at Assumption Church, Appleton, to Frank Samek. Five children were born to this union, Mrs. Rose Vrbka of Brainard, Sister M. Loyola of Omaha, Louis Samek of Brainard, Mrs. Lucille Havlovic of Brainard, and James Samek of Lincoln. She lived most of her life in Butler county, with St. Joseph's Villa being her residence in the latter portion of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 15, 1915, her parents, and three brothers, Frank, Joseph and William Kozisek. Survivors include her five children, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles and James Kozisek of Bruno, Louis and Fred Kozisek of David City; and one sister, Mrs. Jarald Voboril of Abie. Three of her grandsons were unable to attend the services because they were considerable distance from here. They are T-Sgt. Lawrence Vrbka in Thailand, S. Sgt. James Vrbka and family of Okinawa, and James Samek of Boulder, Colo.
