Samek services held in Lincoln Aug. 18 Funeral services for James C. Samek of Lincoln were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 18, from St. John’s Catholic Church in Lincoln. Mr. Samek, 66, died Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. Fr. Joe Mrockzowski, Fr. John Cooper, Fr. Paul Witt and Abbot Raphael Walsh concelebrated the funeral Mass. Fr. Gerald Gabel served as lector. Music was provided by the Notre Dame Sisters of Omaha. Michael and Mark Samek, grandsons, were servers. Offertory gifts were presented by the other grandchildren, Kathy and Kristy Dalton, Scott Samek and Jason and Sarah Miller. Pallbearers were his sons, Jim and Marion Samek and his sons-in-law, Chuck Dalton and Jim Miller. Burial was in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. James, the son of Frank and Mary Samek, was born at Bruno on Dec. 9, 1914. On April 26, 1938, he was united in marriage to Lillian Navratil, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee. Six children were born to this union. He lived on a farm near Dwight for 30 years, before moving to Lincoln where he was employed at Inland Concrete Company as a form-setter and carpenter. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Lincoln and was a member of the Catholic Workmen. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; two sons, Jim of Longmont, Colo., and Marion of Lincoln; four daughters, Sr. Margaret Ann of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Chuck (Rosie) Dalton, Mrs. Jim (Mary) Miller and Sharon, all of Lincoln; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Vrbka of Brainard, Sister Loyola of Omaha and Mrs. Lucille Havlovic of David City; and nine grandchildren, all of Lincoln. His parents and brother, Louis, preceded him in death. ____ p. 11, col. 6 CARD OF THANKS – We wish to thank all our relatives, friends and neighbors for all the masses, spiritual bouquets, flowers, sympathy cards and food we received at the time of the loss of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, James Samek.
