Son of James and Mary (Hagan) Haney. Married Margaret Mulgrue on September 30, 1903 at St. Mary Catholic Church, David City, Nebr. '''''''' The Peoples Banner (David City, Nebr.), October 2, 1952, p. 4, col. 6 Funeral Services Held for James Haney Funeral services for James Haney, 79, were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at St. Mary's Catholic church, with the Rev. Alphonse Lisko officiating. Music at the requiem high mass was furnished by the junior choir. Pallbearers, all nephews, were Cletus, Art and Everett Haney, Dean Harris, John Mulgrue and Lester Minnick. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. Haney, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Haney, was born Aug. 30, 1873, at Peoria, Ill. He died Thursday, Sept. 25, at his farm five miles northwest of Rising City from a heart attack. Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Ben Parolek, of Fremont and a grandson, Bernard Parolek. He also is survived by three sisters Mrs. John Branigan of Columbus, Mrs. Bernie Mulgrue of Rising City and Mrs. Cora Harris of David City, and one brother, Charles Haney of Chicago, Ill. Four brothers, David, John, Ed and Leonard, and a daughter, Leta, preceded him in death. Mr. Haney came to Nebraska with his parents in 1878, and they settled on a farm northwest of Rising City. He received his education in Butler county schools and the Fremont Normal. He was married to Margaret Mulgrue in 1903. In attendance at the funeral from away were Art Haney of Denver, Colo., Gene Haney from Council Bluffs, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Haney, John Haney, Mildred Haney, Mrs. Clinton Cady and children, and Dean Harris of Omaha. ___ p. 12, col. 5 CARD OF THANKS – Thank you for your kindly thoughts, deeds, and expressions of friendship and sympathy during the time of the sudden bereavement of our husband and father.
