Alvin Alois Eckstein was born on the family farm in Douglas precinct, Saunders County, Nebraska, USA. The closest village was Morse Bluff. Saturday, December 3, 2005. Alvin A. Eckstein The funeral for Alvin A. Eckstein, 89, of Linwood, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel, N. Highway 15 and 20th Street, in Schuyler. He died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home. Eckstein was born Sept. 13, 1916, on the family farm in Saunders County near Morse Bluff to Vaclav and Otillia (Werverka) Eckstein. He attended rural school and also went to North Bend High School. He married Irene Hajek on May 18, 1938, in Columbus. Eckstein farmed his whole life and was still farming at the time of his death. He is survived by: a sister, Marie Pawling of Fremont, and a brother, Anton (and wife, Joan) Eckstein of Linwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, in 1981, six brothers, an infant brother, two sisters, and two infant sisters. The Rev. Earl F. Underwood Jr. will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be noon-8 p.m. Sunday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. at Svoboda Funeral Home South Chapel, 905 A St., Schuyler. Visitation will also be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Burial will be in Abie National Cemetery in Abie. A luncheon will be served at the Abie Hall after the interment.
