Mike Adolph Eckstein was born in Douglas Precinct, Saunders County, Nebraska, USA, near Morse Bluff Village. SOURCE: The Banner Press newspaper, David City, Butler County, Nebraska, USA. Thursday, March 22, 1991. SCHUYLER—Mike A. Eckstein, 82, of Schuyler, died Tuesday, March 19, 1991, at Butler County Hospital in David City. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at Kucera Funeral Home in Schuyler with the Rev. James Tieg officiating. Burial will be in Killian Hills Cemetery in Morse Bluff. Visitation is 11 a.m.—8 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Eckstein was born Sept.12, 1908, in Morse Bluff to Vaclav and O’Tillie (Weverka) Eckstein. He was educated in rural schools and married Aemelia M. Homolka April 19, 1938, at Sts. Ceril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. Mr. Eckstein worked as a farmer and carpenter. He farmed in Butler County until 1958 when he and his wife moved to Schuyler. Survivors include his wife; a daughter Joe Ann Miller of Columbus; two sons, Donald of Schuyler and Lloyd of Yoder, Wyo.; four brothers, Jim of Schuyler, Alvin and Anton, both of Linwood, and Milton of Morse Bluff; two sisters, Marie Pawling and Helen Synder, both of Fremont; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.
