J. P. "Jake" Perkins (November 29, 1937 - November 3, 2007) Funeral services for Mr. J. P. "Jake" Perkins will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in the Freedom Baptist Church, Pitkin with Reverend Jeff James officiating. Interment will follow in Occupy #1 Cemetery, Pitkin under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mr. Perkins, known to C.B.er's as the Perculator passed away at the age of 69 of natural causes in his home. He was a member of the Community Volunteer Fire Department for seventeen years, he was also a member of the Pipeliners Local Union #692. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe and Louanna Maricle Perkins, four brothers, Baby Brother, Edward Glen Perkins, and twins Julius C. and Vernon L. Perkins, and one sister, Lillian Perkins. Survivors include his loving wife of twenty six years, Roxana (Ford) Perkins of Ten Mile, two children from a previous marriage, Pamula Perkins Haley of Nashville, Tennessee, and Steve Wayne Perkins of Springhill, Tennessee; three children from his recent marriage, Laura Anne Perkins of Oakdale, Kasey Lynn Perkins of Glenmora, and James Mason Perkins of Ten Mile; one brother, Frederic Perkins of Oakdale; three sisters, Ruby (Perkins) Haymon of Oakdale, Beatrice (Perkins) Clark of Oakdale and Gracie (Perkins) Johnson of Oakdale; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Charles Perkins, Floyd Ray Perkins, Clarence "Joe" Ford, Mark Thompson, James Perkins, and, Johnny Maricle; with four honorary pallbearers, Zeth and Justin Thompson, Josh Burnett, and Roy Johnson. Friends may call at Freedom Baptist Church on Monday, November 5, 2007 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 from 8:00 am until the time of services. visiting www.rushfh.com
