Lillian (Kallus) Schobel Last Rites Held Sept. 3rd For Mrs. Schobel Last rites for Mrs. John Schobel, 79, were held at Untermeyer Funeral Home Sept. 3rd, with continued services in St. Anthony’s Catholic church. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Columbus. Mrs. Schobel, who had been in failing for several years, died suddenly at her home in Columbus Aug. 31 at about 7:30 a.m. Born Nov. 3, 1882 in Ellinger, she was the former Lillian Kallus. In 1900, she was married, in Ellinger, to John Schobel. The couple moved to a farm north of Columbus in 1907 and lived there until Mr. Schobel’s death in 1944, when she moved to Columbus where she had lived since. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Martha Brasse and Mrs. W. B. O’Brien of Houston and 5 sons, Gus, Emil, Robert, Otto and Lester of Columbus. Three sons died earlier, John Jr. in 1930, Gilbert in 1944 and Clamens in 1957. She had 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include 4 sisters, Mesdames Annie Svrcek and Mary Sury of Fayetteville, Matilda Zapalac of Ellinger and Henrietta Vrazel of Danbury and 3 brothers, Fred Kallus of Yoakum, Rudolph Kallus of Schulenburg and John Kallus of Mexico City.
