Schobel, 57, of Columbus, partner in the Schobel Truck & Tractor Co. and husband of the former Miss Mary Christen of here, died Monday, ten days after becoming ill from breathing insecticide fumes. Mr. Schobel, who owned and operated extensive farm acreage in addition to his partnership with three brothers in the tractor firm, had been in Columbus Hospital since Sept. 2, after breathing the fumes while spraying corn for storage. His doctor said the direct cause of death was pneumonia. Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus, with burial in the church cemetery. Survivors in addition his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Theodore Escobar of Pasadena and Mrs. Ronald Byrnes of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. W. B. O'Brien and Mrs. Martha Brasse, both of Houston; and four brothers, Otto, Robert, Gus and Lester Schobel, all of Columbus. Weimar Mercury, September 15, 1966, page 1 [In the obituary it states Emil Schobel was married to the former Miss Mary Christen. He was actually married to the former Miss Eva Christen.
