Services for Gus Schobel, 85, of Columbus were held Dec. 13 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Father Tim Kosler, Deacon Tony Ludolph and Monsignor Victor Schmidtzinsky officiating. Rosaries and Parish were Dec. 12 at KC. Interment followed at St- Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus. Schobel died Dec 11 at his residence in Columbus where he lived for 37 years. He was born Oct. 31, 1906 in Columbus, the son of John and Lillian (Kallus) Schobel. On April 28, 1930 he was united in marriage with Elenora Eggemeyer. Schobel retired as an auto repair shop manager and rancher. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, KC Council No. 2971 and 4th Degree KC Assembly No. 1136 in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clemens, Emil, John, Gilbert, Otto; and two sisters, Martha Brassie and Elenora O'Brien. Survivors include his wife, Elenora, a daughter, Jane Ella Schreiber of Albion, Calif., two brothers, Lester and Robert Schobel of Columbus; four grandchildren, Randy and Gary Kobza, Kelly Kobza Flanagan and Shay Schreiber; a great-grandchild, Blake Flanagan; six Godchildren, Delores, Patrick and Danny Ludolph, Marie and Michael Haygood and Johnny Spencer. Pallbearers were Jack W. Flanagan, Jr., Randy Kobza, Gary Kobza, Raymond Keyser, Patrick Ludolph and Robert O'Brien. Henneke Funeral Home Inc., Columbus, directors.
