Bio

Funeral Mass for Marie L. Kruger, 82, of Omaha, formerly of Schuyler, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Visitation continues from 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Marie was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Howells, to Theodore and Dorothea (Pieper) Hegemann. She attended Howells Catholic Schools and graduated from Howells High School in May 1947. She married Marius Kruger on Oct. 15, 1952, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. Marie spent her entire life as a homemaker. She was a long-time member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. She was also a member of the Lady of The Rosary Study Club, Little Flower Altar Society, and ran the Schuyler Meals on Wheels Program with her husband for 10 years. She also volunteered her time at St. Benedict Center Schuyler. Marie died May 31 at Parson's House in Omaha, where she resided since 2007. Marie is survived by four sons, Tom (Verna) Kruger of Clive, Iowa, Mark (Patrice) of Elkhorn, Terry (Kami) of Omaha, Brian (Martha) of Ballwin, Mo.; one daughter, Joan (Scott) Magdanz of Falls City; 12 grandchildren, Jason (Katie), Pam, Sean, Kelley, Katie, Kyle, Amy, Becky, Sarah, Abby, Elizabeth and Rachel; and three great-grandchildren James, Thomas, and Claire. She is also survived by two brothers Robert (Alice) Hegemann of Fremont, and Victor (Mary Ann) Hegemann of Richardson, Texas; three sisters, Kathleen Baumert of Clarkson, Arlene (Rueben) Doerneman of Howells, sister Myriam Hegemann of Milwaukee; and sisters-in-law Arlene Hegemann, JoAnn Hegemann, and Lorene Hegemann, all of Howells. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Richard Schlautman. She was proceeded in death by her husband in 2009; four brothers, Adolph, Raymond, Joe and Leonard Hegemann; and three sisters, Adella Fendrick, Helen Schlautman and Sister Dorelia Hegeman. Family suggests memorials to St. Benedict Center Schuyler, Divine Mercy Parish Schuyler or The Alzheimer's Association.
