One of thirteen children. "Services for Sister Dorelia Hegemann, 82, Manitowoc, Wis., were Wednesday at Holy Family Convent Chapel in Manitowac. The Rev. Samuel Jadin officiated and burial was in the convent cemetery. She died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc. The daughter of Theodore and Dorothea (Pieper) Hegemann was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Howells with the name of Hildegard Hegemann. She entered the convent in 1954 and professed her vows in 1956. She served as a nurse aide at St.Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse and St. Joseph Retirement Community in West Point. She was also a homemaker at The Marist Seminary in Washington, D.C., St. John, Komatke, Ariz., and St. Francis Convent in West Point. After she retired in 1993, Sister Hegemann performed services at San Damiano Convent in Slinger, Wis. Since 2000, she had been a resident of the St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhoouse. She was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. She was survived by 5 sisters and 4 brothers. "She was also survived by her family of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity." Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc. The former Hildegard Hegemann was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Howells, Neb., daughter of the late Theodore and Dorothea Pipe Hegemann. She entered the convent in 1954 and professed her vows in 1956. Sister Dorelia served as a nurse’s aide in St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse; St. Joseph Retirement Community, West Point, Neb.; and as a homemaker at The Marist Seminary, Washington, D.C.,; St. John, Komatke, Ariz.; and St. Francis Convent, West Point, Neb. Survivors include: The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Sister Myrium Hegemann, Milwaukee; Helen and Richard Schlautman, Howells, Neb.; Marie and Marius Kruger, Schuyler, Neb.; Kathleen and Hubert Baumert, Clarkson, Neb.; Arlene and Reuben Doerneman, Howells, Neb.; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert and Alice Hegemann, Fremont, Neb.; Joseph and JoAnn Hegemann, Howells, Neb.; Victor and Mary Ann Hegemann, Richardson, Texas; Cecilia Hegemann, Dodge, Neb.; Arlene Hegemann and Lorene Hegemann, Howells, Neb. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
