Herald Coaster, June 15, 1994: Funeral services for Ella Christ, 94, of Needville, are scheduled 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville. The Rev. Richard Avery will officiate, with burial at the Needville Public Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albert Urbanek Jr., John Rippe, Rodney Elster, Ricky Christ, Richard Christ Jr., and Bryntin Urbanek. Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Horak and Bobby Christ. Mrs. Christ died June 13 at Autumn Hills Convalescent Center in Richmond. She was born April 28, 1900 in Shelby to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mesecke, Sr. She was a member of the E&R Church in Needville. Survivors include her sons and their wives, Richard and Evelyn Christ, and Allen and Nancy Christ, all of Rosenberg; her daughters and their husbands, Nolee and Otis Kobelen of Boling, Lovalee and L.J. "Cotton" Horak of Old Ocean, and Vallie Urbanek of Needville; a daughter-in-law, Bernice Christ of Richmond; a sister, Edna Kassler of Damon; a brother, Ernest Mesecke of Needville; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alvera Heldia Christ; sons, Herman and Elmore Pete Christ; son-in-law, Albert Urbanek Sr.; brothers, Konard, Robert, and Hugo Mesecke; sisters, Lena Kramer and Mattie Mesecke; and grandchildren, Cynthia Christ and Allen Christ Jr. Memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home in Needville. Services are under the direction of Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors in Needville.
