Fort Bend Herald, January 2, 2007: Funeral services for Richard Thomas Christ, Sr, 83 of Rosenberg, will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Rev. Donald F. Kolkmeier will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Richard was born on November 21, 1923 near Needville, Texas. He was the son of Ella and Fritz Christ. After retiring from Allied Concrete as a truck driver, he entered into the convenience store business with his wife, Evelyn Blinka Christ, owning Christ Korner in Pleak for about 20 years and Country Crossroads in Guy for about 15 years. Richard served in World War II from 1943 through 1946 and was a member of the American Legion Post 271 and the VFW Post 3903. He was also a life member of the Fort Bend County Fair. Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Evelyn; his parents, Ella and Fritz Christ; his brothers, Herman and Elmo (Pete) Christ; a sister, Elvira Christ; and his mother and father-in-law, Rosie and John Blinka. He is survived by children, Lynda Matcek and husband, John, Richard Christ, Jr. and wife, Cindy, Robert (Bobby) Christ and wife, Linda, Rose Askew and husband, Andy; grandchildren, Christy and Brett McDonough, John E. Matcek, Scott Midkiff, Michael and Kelly Kelly, Corey Kelly and fiancée, Angie Legendre, Laramie and Shelly Christ, Cassidy Christ, Drew and Lee Askew, Aprile and Cody Marze; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Allen Christ and wife, Nancy; sisters, Lovalee Horak and husband, Louis (L.J.), Vallie Urbanek, Nolee Koebelen; along with numerous other family members and many friends. Pallbearers are Ricky Christ, Chip Horak, Dale Horak, Tommy Kuykendahl, Eddie Kuban, and Albert (Sonny) Urbanek. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030. The Christ family would like to thank their family and friends for the tremendous outpouring of prayers and love during this difficult time.
