The community was called Post Oak (a one-room schoolhouse and a huge tabernacle). Neighbors were M.L. Houston to the west, Will Buckley and Charlie Parrott to the east. The home house burned in March 1917, and was rebuilt before school was out. The family lived here until 1930, when they moved to the "little house" at the south end of the farm. Martha Malissa "Mattie" MOORE POTEET taught Sunday School at Bell Plains Methodist Church. She raised children, who almost all taught school for, at least, sometime in their careers. Most all served the Methodist Church in varying capacities throughout their lives. A question to her son Edward on 25 Aug 2004 disclosed that Bell Plains Methodist shared a pastor with Holland Methodist- one Sunday at Bell Plains and three at Holland.
