Hillsboro Reporter Monday, November 10, 2003 MARTHA MONTHEI Martha Monthei, 80, of West died Thursday, November 6, 2003 at a West nursing home. She was born January 30, 1923 in West and had lived in the West and Abbott areas all of her life. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary’s School of West. She was employed at -lacek’s Kolace Kitchen for a number of years and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Malone and SPJST Lodge #6 of Cottonwood. She married Fred Monthei December 22, 1946, and he preceded her in death May 16, 1991. Survivors include: one daughter, Rose Mynar of Abbott; one sister, Mary Vrana of West; one brother, Walter F. (Laddie) Sternadel of Oregon; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 9, at Salem Lutheran Church in Malone with Rev. James Heiser officiating. Burial was at Salem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Parish Center of West or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
