Husband of Martha Sternadel Monthei. They were married Dec. 22, 1946 Fred H. Monthei, age 75, of Route 2, Abbott, passed away late Thursday evening, May 16, 1991 at West Rest Haven in West. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Salem Luthern Church with Rev. Mark Cattau officiating. Military Graveside rites followed at Salem Cemetery. Mr. Monthei was born August 1, 1915 in Malone, the son of Henry and Olga Monthei. He married Martha Sternadel on December 22, 1946 in Malone. He was a farmer all his life. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819 and the American Legion Post No. 478, both in West. He was also a member of the SPJST Lodge No. 6 in Cottonwood and the Salem Lutheran Church in Malone. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He is survived by his wife, Martha Monthei of Route 2, Abbott; one daughter, Rose Mynar and son-in-law Marvin Mynar of Route 2, Abbott; three brothers, Louis Monthei of Fort Worth, Dennis Monthei of Malone, and Melvin Monthei of Carrollton; three sisters, Lillian Caram of Fort Worth, Ella Mae Maynard of Abbott, and Lenore Robertson Roswell of Georgia; two granddaughters, Tammie Nors and Melissa Mynar; one grandson, Marvin Mynar, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were: Richard Monthei, Gary Odell Monthei, Billy Ray Veselka, Donald Maynard, Danny Baxter and Bennie Mynar. Aderhold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
