Bio

The Wellington Leader March 12, 1964 Mrs. R. L. Thompson, prominent Samnorwood farm woman, died suddenly at her home at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, shortly after she had prepared breakfasit. She first lived in that community in 1903 and it had been her home continuously since 1919. Mrs. Thompson was born Hattie Pearl Montgomery, Feb. 1, 1886, at Ennis. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Briggs Montgomery, who also were early settlers in the area that later was to become Samnorwood. She was married to Mr. Thompson at Ennis in 1901 and in 1903 they came here and filed on the land that remained theirs for more than 60 years. Several years later they returned to Ennis, but came back to Samnorwood then Plymouth in 1919. She had been a devoted member of the Baptist Church since early in life. Surviving Mrs. Thompson are her husband, of the home a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Charley Clement of Amarillo, Luther Thompson of Samnorwood and Leroy Thompson of Oklahoma City; a sister, and two brothers, Mrs. Henry Bockman of Samnorwood, Albert Montgomery of Canyon, and Jake Montgomery of Samnorwood. There are nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. -------------------------
