Bio

The Wellington Leader August 7, 1980 Mrs. Exie G. Bockmon, for many years a resident of the Plymouth, and later the Samnorwood area, died in Shamrock General Hospital Saturday, August 2, after a period of ill health. She was a resident of a Shamrock nursing home. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church, Samnorwood, and prior to that was a member of Baptist churches serving the area. The former Exie G. Montgomery, she was born at Ennis, February 23, 1891, the daughter of Lucy J. and Briggs Montgomery. The family came to Plymouth about 1908, to become an active part of the community. She was married to Henry Bockmon November 17, 1922. He died in 1971, and it was after his death that she moved to Shamrock. Funeral services were conducted at Samnorwood Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, with the Rev. Rick Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Plymouth Cemetery. Pallbearers were R.B. Bockmon of Amarillo, Gary Thompson and Larry Thompson of Canadian, Laron Breeding, Kenneth Martindale and Doug Darrow of Samnorwood. Surviving Mrs. Bockmon are four grandchildren, Kathleen Duncan of Pasadena, Pat McKinney of Galveston, Ray Bockmon and Don Bockmon of Pasadena; 7 great grandchildren, and one brother, Albert Montgomery of Canyon. Three nieces living in this area are Mary Patterson and Martha Coleman of Shamrock and Louis Rogers of Wellington. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Bockmon was preceded in death by her two sons, Chester Gardner in 1951, and Layfette Bockmon in 1974. Angie Mitchell Martin
