The Wellington Leader October 29, 1964 Robert Lee Thompson, a retired farmer and resident of the Samnorwood community for 58 years, died in Thomas Nursing Home at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23. He had been critically ill in recent weeks. Mr. Thompson was 83. Mr. Thompson was born on March 24, 1881, in Union county, Mississippi and he moved here from Ellis county, where he lived a number of years. He was married to Miss Hattie Pearl Montgomery in 1903 at Ennis. A Baptist since 1898, Mr. Thompson was a charter member of the Plymouth Baptist Church. For many years he was active in the affairs of the Old Plymouth and later Samnorwood communities. Surviving Mr. Thompson are a daughter and two sons: Mrs. Charley Clement of Amarillo; Luther Thompson of Samnorwood and Leroy L. Thompson of Oklahoma City. Other survivors are two sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Lela Terry, Mrs. Maggie Edrington, Arthur Thompson and Ab Thompson of Ennis; and Nathan Thompson of Groom. There are eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
