Charles M. Fults, 79, of Ava, died Monday night in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro after an illness of three weeks. He was born in Choffin Bridge on Nov. 16, 1891, the son of Christopher and Margaret Mortimer Fults. He was married July 23, 1925, in Murphysboro, to Lora Parker. Mr. Fults was a retired rural mail carrier in the Ava area, and retired in 1959 after 50 years of service. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Ava. He was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Joe Lynch Post 353, the American Legion in Ava. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mortimer of Pirmasons, Germany; a daughter, Miss Muriel Felts of Chicago; and two grandchildren. Two grandchildren preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. in St. Elizabeth's Church in Ava, with the Rev.Leo J. Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava after 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
