Birth & death information from Illinois Death Records, researched by Peggy Ray Mrs. Margaret Fults died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday at her home at Ava as the result of burns sustained June 30, last, when her clothing was fired by a cook stove. She was aged 74 years, 8 months and 7 days. Mrs. Fults was alone in her home at the time of her fatal burns. She was washing clothes. A handle of the clothes boiler being hot, she used the skirt of her apron as a glove. The fire ignited the apron and the apron communicated the fire to her dress. Her screams were answered by men working in a nearby field. They arrived to aid her but found her terribly burned. Deceased is survived by seven of her 11 children. The husband died several years ago. Surviving children are: Mrs. Anton Bazey, Valmier, Ill.; Mrs. Fred Bodeker, St. Louis; Mrs. Walter Cup, East St. Louis; Mrs. A. A. Bledde, Campbell Hill, and Winfield, Charles and Rufus Fults, Ava. Funeral rates will be conducted at the Ava Catholic church at 9:30 Saturday morning. Burial in Evergreen cemetery.
