VERNON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OBITUARY ARTICLE: Mrs. Philip Appleman Mrs. Philip (Rosa) Appleman, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 22, at her home in Bloomingdale. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Bloomingdale Church with the Rev. Edward Johnson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. George Hughes Feb. 6, 1878 on a farm near here. Her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are one son, Merwin, De Pere; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ruth Leonard, Pittsburg, Penn.; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie McDaniel, Westby, and Mrs. Myrtle McDaniel, Ontario; one brother, Walter Hughes, Westby.
