Nebraska Signal (Geneva, Nebr.), April 30, 1925, p. 1, col. 2 Mrs. Nancy Ellen Scott Nancy Ellen was born to Stephen V. Jackson and his wife, Nancy Walker Jackson, in Wapello county, Iowa, May 10, 1854. Her early life was spent in the state of her birth. At the age of twenty-four she was united in marriage to Matthew H. Scott at Clarinda, Ia. They made their home for a time at Essex, Ia., where their two children, Eldorado W. and Myrtle Iona were born. Mr. and Mrs. Scott then decided to try their fortune in the neighboring state of Nebraska, and for a time made their home in Ohiowa, Fillmore county. They moved from Ohiowa to Fullerton in the same state, but made only a very short stay there returning to Geneva about eighteen years ago where they have made their home ever since. The husband and father was called home from his labor to his reward December 10, 1922. Mrs. Scott united with the Baptist church when quite young and to which church she kept her allegiance throughout her life. Her health was never robust at any time. She spent her days in great weakness of body which she bore with great patience. She was considerate of those who had to minister to her necessities and sought to avoid giving them unnecessary trouble. She was a great lover of home and her children. She ministered to them as long as her strength allowed. During her last years she was patiently and lovingly cared for by her daughter Myrtle to whom great praise is due. She spent the last years of her life happily by busying herself with little cares around the home and by reading. The end came very peacefully at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 1925, surrounded by her children. She leaves to mourn her two children, two half sisters, one half brother, and two grandchildren. The funeral took place from the home Tuesday at 2:30 and was conducted by the Rev. David Tudor. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The pallbearers were Dr. L.H. Warner, Thomas Huston, A.A. Russell, Thomas Ewalt, James Wythers and Frank Martin. The floral offering was beautiful and profuse.
