SCOTT, RAY W.—Ray W. Scott was born October 30, 1879, near Essex, Ia., to Matthew and Nancy Ellen Scott. After an illness of several months, he passed away at Geneva, October 18, 1966, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 18 days. The family moved from Iowa to Ohiowa, Neb., when Ray was about six years old. He attended school and grew to manhood there. December 24, 1903, he was married to Grace Shiells, also of Ohiowa. To this union were born two children, Darrell and Norma, both of Geneva. Ray lived in Fillmore county for about 79 years, after having spent two years in Fullerton, Neb., when he was first married. Most of his life he farmed. In 1947 he moved to Geneva because of the invalid condition of his wife. He continued to reside in his home in Geneva until recently. He leaves to mourn his death his son Darrell; son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed McCluskey; a grandson, Jack of Nashville, Ten; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; his parents, and his only sister, Myrtle Scott. Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva Thursday, October 20, at 2 p. m. Rev. Delano Spitzer, pastor of the Congregational church officiated. Pallbearers were Francis Weinerth, John M. Carl, Earl Hennessey, William D. Garrett, Charles Massoth and Larry Doud.
