Served as Corporal with Co. L of the 1st IA Cavalry during the Civil War per list of veteran burials in Nebraska. -------------------------------------------------------- Obituary provided by contributor M. Jensen Seggerman: SCOTT, MATTHEW HENRY—Matthew Henry Scott died at his home in Geneva, Neb., Tuesday, December 20, 1921, aged 80 years, 11 months and 26 days. Mr. Scott had been in poor health for some time. He was a veteran of the Civil War and had resided in Fillmore county for many years. The funeral is to take place from the residence in Geneva at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 22. Interment will be in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal, 1921.
