Bio

Our loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, and sister, Lena Fullmer Petersen, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2011. She was born November 30, 1919 in Springville, Utah to Ralph and Katrina Nelson Fullmer. As a child, Lena grew up in Springville, Utah. She was the fourth oldest of ten sisters and five brothers. At the age of eighteen, while working at her aunt's café, a striking young man, Joseph O. Petersen, walked in and asked her for a cup of coffee. They fell in love, got married, and raised their children, Jolene and Michael, in Magna, Utah. Lena was sealed for all time and eternity to the love of her life Joe in 2010. Lena had fond memories, and made many friends, while working for Tooele Ordinance, Duracraft Rubber, and Hercules cafeteria. Upon retirement, Lena and Joe traveled with three of her sisters and their husbands to live every winter in Apache Junction, Arizona. In her 80s, when she became unable to care for herself, she moved into The Legacy House, which she considered her home and made many friends. Lena lived life to the fullest with a passion for going to Wendover, playing bingo, getting together with all of her sisters and brothers, wearing things purple, making fancy hats, and doing anything creative and artistic. Lena is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Mary Petersen, their daughter Tori and her partner Deb and great-grandson Trae, her good friend Natalie, and three siblings. Lena was preceded in death by her husband Joe, daughter Jolene, grandson Scott, and granddaughter Lyndee. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, UT. Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
