Limuel Buel Phillips was born 18 Jul 1908 in Oklahoma, USA. He was 7th of the nine children born to Henry Anderson Phillips (1868-1938) and Margrett Ann [Howard] Phillips (1876-1917). Siblings: Epsie [Phillips] Blanton (1891-1961), Jerry Thomas Phillips (1894-1963), Vernie Adeline [Phillips] Compton (1897-1976), Gustie Guy Phillips (1900-1966), Evelyn Ann [Phillips] Ayers (1903-1960), George Harvey Phillips (1905-1987), Paul Anderson Phillips (1912-1964) and Hattie Irene [Phillips] Hughes/Miller (1916-1983). When he was 8 years of age, his mother died. At the age of 21 years, he was married to Addie Comer on 06 April 1929 in Le Flore County, Oklahoma. They were the parents of one daughter, Lorene Phillips (1930-). Limuel's wife Addie suffered from St. Vitus Dance and as her health declined, so did her will to live. One day while Limuel was at work, he left Addie and the baby in the care of one of his sisters. That day she ended her life and left him a widower. His sister Evelyn Ayers took over care of Lorene and eventually adopted her. Limuel served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and obtained the rank of EM2. Limuel passed away 19 Apr 1966 in Alameda, California and was laid to rest in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, San Mateo, California.
